TBH, this whole project, like most things I create, was by accident.
Because I doodle. But we already knew that. I began to doodle, not just characters, but lines. And those lines would form shapes and scenes and abstractions. Whatever it was, it was new and it helps me. It grounds me.
And because timelapses are fun, I’d post my doodle timelapses on Instagram, and people would say, “You should make a coloring book!” So…I did!
The past year has been spent researching how to make it happen, and this is my debut!
But I knew I didn’t want it to be just a coloring book. I wanted it to be a creative companion—something that could inspire you into mindfulness in more ways than one.
That’s why I added poetic reflections. That’s why I introduced reverse coloring (letting bleed-through inspire the next page). That’s why I left some pages blank. Because when inspiration strikes, you don’t have time to go hunting for paper—you need a place that’s ready when you are.
I was influenced by Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way and her practice of morning pages. When I’ve done them, I’ve felt more focused and grounded throughout my day. But then life happens, and the habit slips. Le sigh.
My book isn’t morning pages exactly, but it’s an invitation to try something similar: Sit. Think. Write. Color. Doodle. Color. Just… be. However you need, whenever you need.
I hope you love this book. I hope it helps you when you really need it—or even when you just kinda need it. There are no rules here. Just a chance to pause. To be you. To feel you. For you. I'm biased, but I think it's the best self-care gift.
